Few minute video about Trager® approach

What is Trager®?
The Trager® Approach is a pleasurable, gentle and effective approach to movement education and mind/body integration. The Trager Approach helps release deep-seated physical and mental patterns and facilitates deep relaxation, increased physical mobility, and mental clarity. The benefits of a Trager session are long-lasting and cumulative, with subsequent sessions allowing for deeper and longer lasting changes.

At the beginning of your session, your Practitioner enters into a state of awareness that Dr. Milton Trager termed “Hook up,” a state similar to meditation. From this state of mind, your Practitioner uses touch and movement to communicate with your body and mind the feeling of a freer and easier way of being and moving.
There are two aspects of The Trager Approach. In one aspect of the work, usually referred to as the “table work,” you, the client, lie on a well-padded table in a safe, comfortable environment while your body is supported and gently moved within its pain-free range of movement and natural rhythm. You may choose to be fully clothed, or partially clothed and appropriately draped.

The quality of touch and movement is such that you experience the feeling of moving effortlessly and freely on your own. As your body and mind receive these soft movements, tensions disappear and new movement patterns become possible.

The other aspect of the Trager Approach, called Mentastics, involves instruction in the use of self-care movements. Mentastics is taught both in private sessions and in group classes.

Yoga and meditation

I became interested in Indian culture when I visited the country at the age of 13. I read literature about India and found information about yoga, so that was how I got interested in yoga. I tried different styles of yoga but it took me awhile to it to become to my daily life.

In 2002 I had an opportunity to try a week-end long ashtanga course for the very first time. First I fall for the physical aspect of the practice and also for how positively it affected to body and mind. It did not take long to remember the systematic way of the poses and I could practice my own. Did not need to go anywhere; was enough just to have a mat under the feet (nowadays that is not nesessary ;) ).

I started instructing ashtanga in 2005, yin and meditative sitting practices in 2015.

My own practice on mat (formal practice) consists on sitting meditative practice and on some asana (postures). Mainly I practice on my own but I do spent time yearly to practice at
Kadermo Conscious Living. Since March 2020 I have been attending to Deligt Yoga schools group mediations several times a week.

From Burning ART festivals 2017 introduction:

"Kristiina “Krisse” Peltoniemi / Yoga teacher (RYT) and Trager® therapist

Kristiina is interested in wholeness, life, living, loving, connecting, authenticity, openness - acts of the soul 💓 Times outside her “work” she enjoys spending time with family, friends and with her fluffy white dog, nature has a special meaning and a quick rooting effect to herself to drop into "just being", she also loves writing and dance; especially dance from within (authentic/somatic movement / contact improvisation).

Her first touch to yoga was over 20 years ago on a first trip to India. There was something that started bloom; how life can also be lived and experienced. She has been teaching the past 13 years and also works as a bodyworker. Her interest to different healing practices as a bodyworker came from yoga and from the wish to give to others and to herself an experience of this holistic, healing and connecting sensation in individual treatments as well as in her teaching.

She teaches yang (active) style of yoga (raja yoga, hatha yoga)
in a forms of ashtanga and yang and yin yoga (hatha yoga). She has experience in different spiritual traditions as well; Tibetan Buddhism and japa meditation (bhakti yoga) and from kundalini and tantra branches. Yoga is yoga (oneness, union to self) - the tools and practices just varies. What is important that a practitioner can find a tool that is suitable to supports her/his lifestyle and current situation."

"To the fuller life from heart 💓 “ - Krisse

Holistic treatments

My intrest to different healing practices came from yoga; especially from prana (the universal energy) and from the wish to give (to others/to myself) an experience of this holistic and healing sensation in individual treatments as well as in yoga practice and in teachings and sharing.

Today I would not call sessions (meditation, yoga, mind/body"work") healing but rather holding and shining light to places of stiffness, pain, restriction (physical/mental) but also emphasising what is good, flowing, pleasurable, fun, peaceful, loving.. rooting more and more to the self on a soul/heart level that is pure and can hold space and compassion (the one that can observe and respond, rather than react); the place of inspiration and "knowing"/wisdom and from where the actions are clear and purposful.
And what comes to the word healing; Psychosynthesis and meditation emphasises this soul/heart perspective and when we get to be in touch with it we know what to do and that can give the feeling of healing. For some it might be a change of perspective from mind to heart and only by trying it out yourself you can see how it works for you.
